My Work

As a company director and publishing I don’t have the time to write any more – it happens. Here’s a selection of my previous work.

I love New York and after too long without a return I headed back over the Atlantic to sample one of my all-time favourite cities. Here’s my article which I hope will help people with tips and ideas when paying a visit:

Ascot Racecourse has evolved into a destination and they are very focussed on groups. I went down to a fine dining launch and race day (tough job) to see what it has planned for 2014 and to chat to its head of sales to help dispel the myths and to tell people why it makes a great day out option for all types of people:

Theatre is big when it comes to Group Leisure and we regularly feature a one-on-one exclusive interview with a lead cast member from a top West End musical or play. Having seen the show (loved it), I chatted to the star of Once, the very lovely Zrinka Cvitešić about her role in the show:

I joined a familiarisation tour of India with specialist escorted tour operator, Travelsphere. The company operates one or two of these ‘try before you buy’ trips each year when they invite key group travel organisers to sample a destination and the specific product they offer. This gave me the opportunity of touring the ‘Golden Triangle’ so I could generate a feature about this quite wonderful yet barmy country:

I have now been involved in cruise holiday publishing for several years and decided to write a general article to help dispel misconceptions about the market and to help people choose the right type of cruise for them and their travel groups:

One of the great things about my job over the past several years has been covering theatre and entertainment. I’ve seen and reviewed countless shows in London’s West End and this is one of the more recent. The Commitments finally reached the capital’s Theatreland last year and I went to see if it was any good, always trying to take a measured view for the benefit of a wide reader base:

I spoke with Justin Lee Collins about his role in West End musical, Rock of Ages. A somewhat different turn for the TV and comedy star:

After my first visit to York I really wanted to ensure I let readers know what a lovely place it is:

I’ve been lucky enough to have visited a fairly decent number of places in the USA, and Washington DC is right up there as one of my favourites. In complete contrast to some of the major American cities, I was surprised at how much space the capital afforded. Two links below, one of the original article published online and something I then adapted for the magazine sometime later:

The audience I have written for is often after domestic, as well as more flamboyant international ideas so day trip suggestions play a big part in what we do. London is without doubt the number one city in Britain when it comes to things to see and do – the House of Parliament tour is an excellent option to tick many boxes:

Of course, getting to enjoy exciting new attractions before they open to the public is a definite perk to the job. It also means you get gain serious Brownie points with family and friends. This was the case when I took two of my nieces to the Harry Potter tour at Warner Bros. Studios in Hertfordshire (they call it London, but…):

The opening of a new multi-million pound visitor centre and exhibition at one of the country’s most iconic locations certainly created a stir. I went down to Wiltshire to see how a visit to Stonehenge was being tastefully transformed into much more than a photo opportunity:
